Ingeniero Industrial.  Fotógrafo y artista...
Ingeniero Industrial.

***************************

Industrial Engineer.  Photographer and visual artist.
Born in Toledo (1971), he lives and works in León (Spain).

Richard Le Manz uses photography as a means of expression to explore in the field of his ideas, concerns, and reflections, letting out the images generated in his mind.

For the materialization of his expressiveness the artist uses the object. It does not settle for the latent meaning of them, but jumbles with the malleable nature of its identity, stamping them with new identities and bathing them with new meanings and messages that invites the viewer to discover. Nor is it satisfied with the"orthodox" praxis of the photographic medium and sometimes combines images in multi-exposure seeking greater expressiveness and continuing to investigate the possibilities of the medium.

His creativity is influenced by his passion for nature, by the issues that concern him, by his experiences and even by his state of mind.  His work does not escape the issues of today. Heuses the camera as an instrument of reflection, with a critical look and a vindication of the social and environmental problems that threaten our planet.

His work is usually grouped into thematic series and sometimes in his scenographies certain objects are repeated relating them to other different elements and concepts triggering new and sometimes surprising meanings.

He uses both color and black and white to create clean and minimalist compositions loaded with messages that deepen the dialogue with the viewer, who will finally be the one who makes his own interpretation.  Le Manz has built his own characteristic visual language, making his authorship recognized at first glance. A style of his own already baptized on occasion as "Philography", a play on words between photography and philosophy, (Photography to philosophize, to think).

When he is not in his studio working, giving shape to a new concept or idea, Richard is immersed in nature anywhere on the planet looking for the solitude and silence that he only finds in communion with the natural environment.

He began his artistic path in 2018 with the presentation and exhibition of the project "Habitat, beyond photography" where he reflects on the responsibility of the automobile and the use of fossil fuels in the pollution of the planet. In 2019 he participates in Xposure International Photography Festival, in the United Arab Emirates. He exhibits his Habitat project along with the most recent, "In Our Hands", on individual responsibility in the prosperity of humanity and nature. Both projects reflect from different perspectives on the human relationship with nature. During 2020, a small exhibition of In Our Hands could be seen at El Camarote Madrid and at the Espacio E gallery in León. In 2021 it was incorporated into the art collection of the Leonés Institute of Culture (Diputación de León).  Recently the MUSAC (Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León) has incorporated some of its works into the Covid-19 Archive Collection being the subject of exhibition.

He has received numerous national and international recognitions, has participated in several group exhibitions both inside and outside our borders and has given lectures on his work. His work has been disseminated by numerous media, such as TVE, Cultura inquieta, Gràffica, La Vanguardia, All About Photo (USA), El Gran Otro (Argentina), L ́Oeil de la Photographie (Paris), International Photography Magazine (London)...
